AEYE

Interactive public art sculpture
Melbourne, Australia

AEye is an artwork that enlivens the entrance to Ella Lane in Melbourne Central revitalising this section of an older asset in an unexpected and surprising way. It is a statement about the disconnect between fictional depictions of AI and the current evolution of the technology, which for now is still in its infancy.

AEye is a branch of 8 interactive disks that respond to the movement of passers-by. In a whimsical, joyful and sweet allusion to the development of AI, this sculpture is imbued with a childlike character and is learning (much like a toddler) to recognise the shapes of passing dogs.
